Issue 3  September 3, 2010
What are we doing next week?

Math- We will have a test on Tuesday. We will also be learning how to divide a square into 3 equal parts, regroup tens and ones, and count dimes, nickels, and pennies.

Language Arts- Reading-We will be reading the story, “Kumak’s Fish.”
English- We will be learning about 2 types of sentences-statements and questions (interrogative and declarative)
Writing- We will write a paragraph about our favorite foods.
Spelling words-/endings-ing, ed, er, est/(pattern for the week)- using, getting, easiest, swimming, heavier, greatest, pleased, emptied, leaving, worried, strangest, freezing, funniest, angrier, shopped.

Vocabulary words-
gear-the equipment needed for an activity
parka-a warm jacket with a hood
twitch-to move with a slight jerk
willow-a tree with long flexible branches
yanked-pulled or jerked suddenly

Word of the Week- smitten-  very much in love

History- We will be talking about what community is.

Science- We will be getting ready for our test on Thursday.

Handwriting- We are working on lower and uppercase letters: q, v, z, and x. We will be starting cursive next week.

Christian Studies- This week will be talking about Cain and Abel and talking about the B  Elsr and getting ready for Grandparents Day.

Memory- Wednesday-John 3:16-God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
